Women of Color Editors Keynote panel. This dynamic panel will bring together accomplished professionals who have made significant contributions to cinema through their craft. From shaping narratives to enhancing storytelling, these editors have played pivotal roles in bringing stories to life on the big screen. This panel offers a platform to explore the intersectionality of race and gender in the editing room, while also shedding light on the importance of representation and inclusivity behind the scenes. The panel will take place at the LaGuardia Community College

Panelist: Princess A. Hairston
Princess A. Hairston--is a director and Emmy-nominated editor in New York City. Princess has produced and directed films such as BREAKING THE NEWS a feature-length documentary that is currently distributed on PBS and LADIES FIRST: a story of Women in Hip Hop on NETFLIX. She is one of the editors for a new hybrid documentary titled Songs from the Hole premiering at SXSW 2024, She also edited This World Is Not My Own which premiered at SXSW 2023 and the highly ranked Amazon doc series LulaRich in 2021. She edited a one-hour special for the 2020 BIDEN/HARRIS campaign, a five-part 81-minute documentary series for Prudential titled Masterpiece of Love, was supervising editor for Pier Kids, an editor on FRESH DRESSED, an official 2015 Sundance Film Festival selection and editor for the Emmy-nominated series Capture with Mark Seliger. In 2020, she produced a digital campaign for “GET OUT THE VOTE” for Black Lives Matter. Princess was selected as one of 25 filmmaker nominees for the 2020 Lynn Shelton Of A Certain Age grant. She is a 2018 recipient of the Karen Schmeer Editing Fellowship and a 2018 Winner of the NYTVF + WEtv Producer Pitch which led to a development deal. Her work has been recognized with nominations and awards from the Emmys, The Webbys, and many film festivals.

Kathryn Hood-Moore is a Motion Picture Editor/Filmmaker who has mastered cutting-edge post production, collaborative technology tools and logistical solutions including AVID, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and FCP. Kathryn’s pioneering editorial work has been featured on most major media outlets and premium streamers including: Netflix, Hulu, Disney, History, MTV, VH1, BET, CBS, PBS, NBC, BRAVO, OWN, TLC, A&E, WE, Oxygen, ESPN, Vice and Amazon. Through a diverse body of work, she is committed to the creation of top rated content that spans from engaging entertainment to escapism and education. She is inspired to contribute to storytelling that is engaging and impactful in evolving innovative ways. This is evident in her recent work including, The Hair Tales which was nominated for an Emmy and an NAACP Award, Black Patriots: Heroes of the Civil War that received a 2022 Emmy Nomination for Best Narrator, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Lead editing on The New York Times Presents: The Killing of Breonna Taylor for FX and Hulu which won an NAACP Image Award, Black Women Own the Conversation that won an Emmy for Outstanding News Discussion and Analysis. And Who Killed Malcom X which received an Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Investigative Documentary.
