The Power of Her Voice: Amplifying the Voices and Visions of Women in Global Cinema seeks to shine a spotlight on the vital role women play in shaping the global film, industry. This event emphasizes the importance of women's storytelling in cinema, not only as creators but as influential forces in portraying diverse experiences, cultures, and perspectives. Despite the historical challenges faced by women in the entertainment industry, they have persistently reshaped narratives and brought forward untold stories that resonate on a global scale.
This unique event will feature an inspiring lineup of special guest speakers, including Allison McGevna, SVP of Content at iOne Digital, and Geeta Patel, renowned filmmaker, director, producer, and Executive Producer/Director on Hulu’s new limited series "Under the Bridge." The event will also include a dynamic panel with Rashaana Shah, producer at Mulberry Films, Ms. Trupti Bhoir, an Oscar-listed producer, award-winning actress, writer, and director, and Ruhi Aka Rohini Hak, a storyteller on a mission.
Attendees will have the opportunity to watch and engage with powerful films made by women, including Dear Josephine, a tribute to the iconic Josephine Baker; Paro – The Untold Story of Slavery, a tragic tale of abuse and loss; American Warrior, the journey of an Indian-American immigrant and MMA fighter; E-Rickshawali, a true story of abuse and empowerment; and Sister Nun, a gripping drama about a former nun turned Harlem activist. This complimentary event offers a platform for women in cinema to share their voices and visions and inspire change in the industry.
