Born from a powerful mission, AAWIC Studios was created to amplify and celebrate the authentic voices of women of color in film and media. Dear Josephine is a film about the Global Iconic Josephine Baker. Ms. Baker was an American-born French dancer, singer and actress. Baker was celebrated by artists and intellectuals of the era, who variously dubbed her the "Black Venus", the "Black Pearl", the "Bronze Venus", and the "Creole Goddess" she was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Mother Knows Best

In this compelling and emotional short film, the relationship of an engaged couple is put to the ultimate test when an overbearing Italian mother, who is convinced she knows what is best for her child, becomes involved. With tensions running high, this gripping tale explores the complex dynamics of family relationships, the power struggle between parents and their adult children, and the sacrifices that must be made in the name of love. As the story unfolds, the couple is forced to navigate a time bomb of conflicting emotions and loyalties.
