Festival Information

African American Women In Cinema (AAWIC) is a 501 c3 non-profit organization who serves as a continuous support for the vibrant work of women filmmakers for the past twenty-seven years. AAWIC provides a platform to showcase aligning experienced and novice filmmakers, directors, producers, screenwriters and actors. Our mission is to expand, explore and create business opportunities for minority women filmmakers throughout the entertainment industry. It is the goal of AAWIC to give artistic women a path to fulfilling their dreams through showcasing their talents, exposure to peers’ interaction, and mentoring by established professionals.

80th United Nations General Assembly Week

African American Women In Cinema (AAWIC) is honored to present a special Virtual Screening Side Event during the esteemed 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Week, in association with the UNGA Week International Network.


This momentous event will take place on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (EST).


"Honoring the Delegates," this extraordinary evening will celebrate the impactful leadership of global delegates while showcasing powerful works by filmmakers of color whose stories reflect and shape our world. This screening is a must-attend for those passionate about cinema, international affairs, and the transformative power of storytelling.


Join us for an inspiring evening as we recognize global changemakers and amplify underrepresented voices through thought-provoking films. The event also provides African American Women In Cinema the opportunity to share its impactful work with an international audience, furthering our mission to uplift diverse creators and narratives.
