African American Women In Cinema Atlanta Chapter 1^st Annual Screenplay Competition

Overview

 African American Women in Cinema Atlanta (AAWICA) have created a platform for talented women writers to showcase their creativity. AAWICA realizes the importance of providing a competition and it is our goal to highlight and make aware of aspiring, burgeoning as well as veteran writers. 

The Screenplay competition will launch on May 13, 2013 on-line and will be accepting full length industry standard feature length screenplays and will end on August 9, 2013 midnight. The scripts can be of any genre. Each submission will be judged on theme, plot structure, main characters, and dialogue by the screenplay competition panel committee that consists of prominent industry professionals.

Each submission requires an application and fee to be submitted. The fee submission structure is as follows:

-Early Bird Registration $25.00 May 13-May 30
-Regular Registration-$35.00 June 1st-July1st
-Late Registration-$45.00 Deadline August 9, 2013
-Non-members will be charged additional $10 per submission

The Grand Prize in which one will be selected will receive the following:

-One day workshop at the Writer’s Well in Atlanta Georgia

-Three VIP AAWIC Annual Film Festival All Access Pass

-Specialized Gift Bag


Second Prize (Runner Up) in which one will be selected will receive the following:

-Two VIP AAWIC Annual Film Festival All Access Pass

-Specialized Gift Bag

All scripts and applications must be sent to aawicatl@gmail.com in a pdf format. Fees can be paid at the link below. Please note that all fees are non-refundable and that all material is non returnable. You may submit multiple entries, however, a submission fee must accompany each entry. Your entry will not be considered if it is missing any of the documentations that include 1) application, 2) script and 3) entry fee.


About the Writer's Well

The Writer's Well was founded in 2007 located in Georgia, by renown actress Adiliah Barnes to nurture women writers in a setting that celebrates sisterhood and unity. The Writer's Well offers a space where women may come to unlock, allow and ultimately, maintain their literary talents. In addition, the Writer's Well also offers one-on-one writing sessions with exercises that address writer's block, unlocking personal stories and creative imagery.

AAWIC Atlanta Screenplay Competition Application

Script Competition Application
 
AAWIC Atlanta is very pleased to announce its Screenplay Competition. This program has been designed to select two (2) top feature screenplays by women writers who are of the African, Latino or Asian Diaspora.
 
Requirements & Regulations
 
-Screenplays must be feature length in industry standard format
-Screenplays must be in English language
-Writers submitting their script for consideration of the competition must be 18years old or older
-Screenplay can be of any genre
 
Each Entry must be submitted as follows:
 
-Completed submission form signed
-Non-refundable submission fee
-Can submit multiple entries, however, separate form and fee are required for each
 
Release
Please read the following terms and conditions in connection with your submission to the AAWIC Film Festival
 
As the author of the screenplay, I/We have submitted to AAWIC and warrant as sole and exclusive owner(s) of all legal right and the title thereto have absolute authority to submit the enclosed material to AAWIC.
 
I/We will indemnify and hold harmless AAWIC its jurors, sponsors and partners individually and collectively, from and against all claims, demands losses, damages, costs, liability and expenses including legal expenses apprising out of or in connection with any and all claims, or third party claims based on material submitted to AAWIC.  AAWIC seletees and winners will permit AAWIC to use title of the work submitted, their name, and or lilkeness & publicity stills in publicity and promotional efforts.
 
By signing this for, I/We understand and agree to all terms and conditions of submission of materials to this event.
